RP logs: Tony
Started over discussion of "I snagged Rhodey and went to Cabo.".
Tony: ...you know, we SHOULD go to Cabo
Rhodey: ...but I don't actually like pears all that much. *a beat* Under normal circumstances.
Tony: *smirks* Yeah well, I make things good, what can I say *with that you-know-you-love-me look*
Rhodey: Yeah, yeah. One of these days I'm gonna be able to say no to you. Or, you know. Somebody will.
Tony: Still holding out for that day, huh?
Rhodey: Mm. I guess. A man's got to have something of his dignity to hope to save, I guess.
Tony: Come on, it's not that bad, is it?
Rhodey: *sighs, a bit exagerrated* No, I suppose not.
Tony: *smirks/grins* ...by the way. If you make fun of the next picture I'm sending you...you're in trouble.
Rhodey: I wouldn't even dream about it.
Tony: You just haven't seen it. Or seen it again, since it's from college.
Rhodey: You're the one who tends to make fun of me, Tony. I think you're safe.
Tony: Yeah, yeah. From the last year: http://i33.tinypic.com/2s809pv.jpg
Rhodey: Ah, good old days.
Tony: Yep. With the good old stripes and big sunglasses.
Rhodey: Hey, at least you had the manned-unmanned recognition going fine!
Tony: *...laughs* That's a good one. And look what else I found, though I can't remember from when. Probably after my parents died considering I look drunk or stoned out of my mind. http://i38.tinypic.com/v7dpuu.jpg
Rhodey: Mmhm. That wasn't in college. But I notice you still got the hot chick, no matter what the substances level.
Tony: *a dark shadow flickers in his eyes briefly but covers it with a sort of smirk even if it's not quite his usual kind* Yeah, that doesn't change
Rhodey: *frowns a bit at the change of expression* Didn't think it would. *small pause* Something you might want to talk about?
Tony: Hm? Like what?
Rhodey: *shrugs* Seemed for a moment something I said left an odd taste in your mouth, or something. Had to ask.
Tony: Oh! Nah, just.... *probably had one shot too many? ... nah* Tired, maybe. I'm good.
Rhodey: Uh-huh. Asked just in case. *drawls a little* Wouldn't want you to feel ignored or something.
Tony: *chuckles* So considerate. Though, if I were to feel ignored... Trust me. You'd know it. Even if it meant sneaking into wherever you are.
Rhodey: *head snaps up* Now just be careful about that, alright? Try calling first, at least.
Tony: Doesn't that defeat the purpose of surprise?
Rhodey: It might, yes. But on the other hand, it reduced the probability of some nervous trigger-happy green hand to shoot your ass in the dark. *provided, of course, that he wasn't in the suit, which might end up stirring a whole other bowl--* Oh fine, you'll do whatever you please anyway, won't you.
Tony: So does that mean I should go sneak to the base when you leave New York?
Rhodey: ... should? So you are feeling ignored? *first part a little alarmed, second part... slightly teasing.*
Tony: Wh-- *blinks, frowning slightly* No! I just-- It was just a question. To see how you'd react.
Rhodey: *hand on his shoulder* Tony. Are you all right? I'm here. And it was just a question too.
Tony: Yeah. I know, I'm just... *tired. confused. a little bit buzzed.* ...tired. I don't know. Maybe I just miss California already and sneaking over there to see you would also mean going back. *and seeing him but that was obvious. ... he hoped*
Rhodey: *nods slowly* This stint in New York can't go on forever, can it? You'll get back one of these days. *and if not, change of base could possibly be arranged. Which if Tony relocates to NY would possibly be actually suggest to Rhodey, in case he can persuade him to change his mind... or at least they can get whatever non-weaponry he can give them...*
Tony: No, I don't think so. I mean, it has to end some time and I have things to do in California. But the board is... Heh. They're all going with Stane's route, it seems. Either prove I'm "well" enough to go on with the company, or the injunction will be in place again. *small wry smile* And I'm fine. I may not be seeing a shrink how they want me to, but I can handle my company. *even if there's no CFO in place but that's besides the point*
Rhodey: *nods slowly* You can. Whatever they may think *or I used to think* you're ... responsible. And if they don't get that that matters, they're a lot more short-sighted than they should be.
